How to have health: Tip #2

In how to get over the flu on October 21, 2010 at 3:10 am

Drink plenty of water each day – around 1.5-2 litres, or 6-8 cups. Yes, this one’s old news, but hey – it works! And it’s so easy to skirt around it. Excuses for not drinking water include:

  • There’s water in my tea/coffee/soft drink
  • I don’t like drinking water
  • It won’t matter if I don’t get the recommended amount of water each day

Fresh, plain water (or with a squeeze of lemon) is the best, healthiest option. It serves a million and one purposes, including:

  • healthy digestive system
  • younger, healthier-looking skin
  • healthy organs
  • less frequent headaches
  • optimal blood pressure (preventing both headaches and dizziness)
  • part of the body’s natural cooling system

… and the list goes on and on. Don’t downgrade the benefits of water by adding diuretics (ie, caffeine) or sugar – glug it down in its natural form!

Vegetables. They are your absolute best friend, no matter what your health goals are. They contain a wide variety of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, provide you with complex carbohydrates, and are usually very low in fat. Eaten raw, they provide the best benefits, including higher vitamin content and natural digestive enzymes, which can be destroyed in the cooking process. With a diet rich in fresh vegetables, you’ll have plenty of fibre to keep your internal plumbing in good condition, too!

Ideally, vegetables should make up the majority of your diet – between 50%-70%. Once you’ve got the right amount of fruits+nuts+seeds, protein foods and healthy fats, the rest should be vegetables.

The more jobs you apply for, the more likely you are to be accepted for at least one. With each new job you complete, you will start building a reputation for yourself that will help you to win future projects – particularly if you are signed on with a site like Freelancer.com, which offers a simple-yet-effective user rating scheme.
